This very upscale private country club, built in 1979 by legendary Florida architect Joe Lee, needed a massive injection of eye appeal and challenge to attract the younger generation of low-handicap golfers. In 2001, Schulties infused the necessary ingredients, transforming the short and aging layout into a modern golf course with more distance, increased playability and visual definition — all followed by immaculate conditioning by course superintendent Steve Kuhn. Since mature oaks and pines framed nearly every hole, Schulties retained much of the existing routing and emphasized strong definition around the features, such as visual bunkering, elevated greens and tees, and many new sandy waste areas. New tees were added on nearly every hole for increased length.
